The Chișinău International Marathon is Moldova's flagship running event.
The next edition is scheduled for the weekend of September 11–12, 2026, bringing together over 17,000 athletes from around 50 countries in the heart of the capital city.
Race Formats and Distances
The main races take place on Sunday, offering certified courses for every fitness level:
- Marathon (42.195 km): A 4-lap course on a 10.5 km loop with a 6-hour time limit.
- Half Marathon (21.097 km): A 2-lap race on the same city-center loop.
- 10 km & 5 km Runs: Popular, fast-paced distances for recreational or intermediate runners.
- Kids Run Day: Dedicated children's races held on Saturday, September 12.
Marathon for All: An inclusive race category for athletes in manual wheelchairs.
The CourseThe route is known for being flat and fast, making it ideal for setting personal records. The starting grid and finish line are located at Great National Assembly Square (Piața Marii Adunări Naționale).
Runners head down the city's main avenues, including Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard, Ciuflea Street, and Dacia Boulevard. The course features live music zones, hydration stations every 5 km, and vibrant spectator areas.
